Based on the schematics of Triode Dick I searched the catalogue of Conrad (http://www.conrad.nl) for components for Scratch. At first I was convinced that it was not that difficult at all to complete the list of capacitors, resistors and tubes. But after a short while I realised that I had no idea whether all these components were of the required quality. Moreover, I was convinced by scanning webpages of Angela, Percy Audio, Audio Note that there must be better components available for Tube amplifiers.
Fortunately, the list of components in general is a lot smaller for tube amplifiers compared to solid state, but because of the higher cost per component the nett effect on my bank account is still negative.
And since Dick changed the design of the power supply from diode to tube rectifier, I had to rework my shopping list and start from scratch anyway…
I was surprised about the amount of components still needed to build the amp.…

I made a shopping list of all components I included in scratch (forgetting about some bolts and nuts, solder and other small material). As you will see a reasonable no-compromise list, although I’m convinced that there may be better and more expensive alternatives possible especially for the resistors and the tubes
This is the schema of Triode Dick for Scratch that I used
This is my shopping list with ingredients used for Scratch
A few notes:
This list therefore contains all price paid by me with no other intention than to show readers whre the money is spent when buildign a tube amp, and this is just a pre-amp, without output transformers. After all, most part suppliers have a presnce on the internet and publish their prices anyway. It’s just that the consolidated list gives a better overview J
It took me about 4 times as much time to get the electronic parts in than building the Scratch…
