Listening

When comparing the PhonoClone with the GainPre it is immediately clear that the PhonoClone has lower noise. The sound is clear and detailed and when first listening to certain kinds of music I'm surprised how fast this amp is.

Conclusions

It is relatively simple to make a phono equaliser with OpAmps. However, good OpAmps are more expensive than tubes and making the amp sound good is just as difficult.
